The n word

He is saying that he will go somewhere for his friends and he will die for his friends

upper niggas in the community think it’s crummy. It’s just a normal sentence and he is saying it just for the reason of saying it he could of said the upper class people that tells me that he likes or thinks of it as a normal everyday word.

When you’ve been to Brazil and stood in favela streets

this is a good quote because the streets of favela which is in Brazil are dangerous and there is crime every where and if you go there you will realise that your life is easy compaerd to how people that live in the favelas.

Revision

Mick jenkings target of satire.

stereoytipical idea of what it is to be black.

The word hanging is used significantly because it could be used to say that they are just chilling or that they are being lynched (being hung from a tree).

Satire in hip-hop

I think that they would use a sample from      this song to try and stop slavery.

I think Mick Jenkins uses satire in his song martyrs by talking about how he is just hanging ( chilling with his friends ) and that is how it sounds but he wants other people to look at it or hear it as black people getting hung.

Hip Hop and sampling

I think it’s about him liking a girl with a lights skin completion and there where also talking about being a victim.

I think that they contrast because in the sample they are talking about how they are going to try and get the brown skin lady and in the song they are talking to the brown skin lady.

Sample in hip hop

I think that Black Star used a tune from one of Gil-Scott Heron songs because his songs were very influential African American people and I think that Black Star are trying to do the same thing with hip hop.

eventhough the style of hip hop is different it follows the tridition of other black music.

Mos Def

I think that the quote means that he doesn’t want to take your money he just wants to do it because he likes to do it and he want other people to like what he is doing.

People was tussling, arguing and bustling image of a crowd of people arguing negative image of the inner city is hustling a bag thing.

like city lights stay Harding creates a image of the city as restless, always moving and always bright.

Thirsty criminals take pockets image of criminals making us think about how crime works in the inner city.l

HVNLY

I think that he has had a bad childhood because he grew up in the Bronx and the Bronx is a big apartment complex that has been run down by gangs, guns and drugs.

HVNLY is a uplifting song because it is talking about what it is like to grow up in a bad area “born in Bronx raised in Bronx” and that if you grow up in a bad area doesn’t mean that you have to be apart of the baddness your self.
